Nature in the heart of the city

Many Saskatchewan cities are home to beautiful urban parks, including Swift Current, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn, North Battleford and Prince Albert. Urban parks conserve and protect the natural environment while providing recreational opportunities for people and habitat for wildlife.

Saskatoon

The Meewasin Valley Authority is a conservation organization dedicated to protecting the natural and cultural heritage resources of the South Saskatchewan River Valley in Saskatoon and area. With the support of the Province of Saskatchewan, the City of Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, Meewasin undertakes programs and projects in river valley education, development and conservation. By creating opportunities for public awareness and enjoyment, Meewasin strives to increase understanding and to ensure a vibrant and healthy river valley.

Moose Jaw

Nestled along the Moose Jaw River, the beautiful Wakamow Valley offers natural wonders that are pleasing to the senses. The valley is home to a wide variety of trees, plants and animals - everything from marshland to cactus growth, as well as an ideal home to thousands of species of wildlife. Wakamow Valley is located only minutes away from many of Moose Jaw's impressive attractions: Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, the Western Development Museum, the Historical Murals, the Tunnels of Moose Jaw and downtown's Crescent Park.

Regina

Wascana Centre is a 930 hectare park area in the heart of Regina, built around man-made Wascana Lake. This area hosts several exciting outdoor events throughout the year, including the SaskPower Regina Dragon Boat Festival and the Kona Fest Winter Festival. Wascana Centre is also home to many wonderful sights, sounds and attractions, including the Mackenzie Art Gallery, The Royal Saskatchewan Museum, The Saskatchewan Science Centre and Kramer Imax Theatre and the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts. Visitors can now enjoy ferry boat tours of the lake with Wascana Lake Boat Tours.
