Prince Albert Thanksgiving Powwow
October 11-13, 2008
Around 600 dancers from all over Saskatchewan, western Canada and the United States are expected to participate in the pageantry and festivities of the 10th Annual Prince Albert Thanksgiving Powwow. The powwow runs from October 11 to 13 at Prince Albert’s Art Hauser Center, and the public is welcome to attend.
Dance competitions will bring the arena floor to life with lively dances and colourful traditional dress. Over $75,000 in prize money is up for grabs in a variety of dance competitions, including Women’s Fancy, Men’s Traditional, Women’s Jingle and Men’s Fancy Spotlight Special.
May other activities are planned, including the Thanksgiving Powwow Parade on Saturday, October 12, and the Princess Pageant on Sunday.
The Northern Lights Casino, with the support of various Prince Albert organizations, hosts the powwow, which regularly attracts a diverse crowd. Over 200 volunteers help make visitors and dancers feel welcome, and are a large part of this powwow’s ongoing success.
