Armed Forces Day Celebrates Milestone in Canadian Aviation History

15 Wing is delighted to host Armed Forces Day May 2, 2009, showcasing 15 Wing and the Canadian Forces to the public as well as celebrating the Centennial of Powered Flight in Canada. Armed Forces Day fun-filled family event that is open to the public, free of charge.

"The 15 Wing Armed Forces Day provides us an opportunity to showcase our equipment and people as well celebrate the Centennial of Powered Flight in Canada, a significant milestone in our nation's history," said Colonel Paul Keddy, Commander, 15 Wing. "We are very fortunate to have the whole-hearted support of our community. Armed Forces Day is our way of giving back."

Highlights of the Armed Forces Day will include air performances from the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the CF-18 Hornet Demonstration. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see Air Force, Navy and Army static displays from across Western Canada.

This event will also feature Hawk 1, a refurbished, classic Royal Canadian Air Force and F-86 Sabre, which will be flown with the Snowbirds in communities across Canada to commemorate the Centennial of Powered Flight in Canada. 

"15 Wing is the proud home of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the world-class NATO Flying Training in Canada Program," said Colonel Keddy. "We are delighted to host this family event and are looking forward to a wonderful day."
