Hale was selected to be the artist coordinator for the artist-in-residence program launched earlier this month as part of the year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Legislative Building. She will be responsible for developing and implementing the specifics of the program, which will offer seven guest artists the opportunity to work for a short period within this significant building. "Even though I grew up in Saskatchewan and lived in Regina for quite a few years, I have to admit that I didn’t really spend any time inside the Legislative Building," Hale says. "I spent a lot of time admiring the building from the outside in Wascana Park but never realized how accessible and welcoming the Legislative Building is." Besides offering public and youth activities and initiatives, the program will ultimately result in one legacy artwork or display for each of the eight alcoves in the Rotunda of the Legislative Building when it wraps up in November. Hale says it’s going to be a big job, but a great opportunity for herself and the other artists who will be involved.

"As an artist, I am very excited to have the opportunity to spend 10 months at the Legislative Building surrounded by and discovering the beauty, art and craftsmanship contained within it and also the history and stories surrounding it. I look forward to the process of discovery and the inspiration found within that process and sharing it through the artist residency project and the 100th Anniversary celebration."
