Each event features diverse competition categories; from drums to women’s jingle and grass dances. One of the oldest and largest powwows in Saskatchewan, Standing Buffalo Indian Powwow, takes place in Fort Qu’Appelle. From August 10-12, 2012 participants from western Canada and the USA will gather to take part. The spirit of Saskatchewan is reflected in the culture, history and traditions of First Nations people. Firmly rooted in tradition, the powwow today continues to be an important cultural and social gathering.
