In what year did curling officially become an Olympic sport?
a) 1998. At the 1998 Winter Olympic Games held in Nagano, Japan, curling was first recognized as an official sport. Team Canada – whose members were all from Saskatchewan - took home the gold medal in the women’s event. Members of this gold medal team were Sandra Schmirler, Jan Betker, Joan McCusker, Marcia Gudereit and Atina Ford.
