Record Walleye Trivia

Did you know that 68 different species of fish inhabit the 100,000 lakes, rivers and streams of Saskatchewan? The walleye, sometimes referred to as pickerel, is our provincial fish. What is the live release record (length) for walleye in Saskatchewan?

a) 10.5 inches
b) 33.75 inches
c) 41.25 inches
d) 22.15 inches

Answer:

b) 33.75 inches, it was caught at Last Mountain Lake in 2011. Although they typically prefer deeper waters they can be found distributed throughout Saskatchewan. They vary in colour from brassy gold to olive buff, mottled with black. The walleye gets its name from the milky colour of its eyes. These are some of the finest eating fish you’ll find anywhere.
