June 2008 SaskSecrets
June in Saskatchewan means green trees, green grass and green jerseys as the Roughriders football team begins training camp. June also brings summer holidays, and there is a lot to take in around the province this summer.
June 21 is National Aboriginal Day across Canada, and in this issue of SaskSecrets we'll look at a number of celebrations being held to mark the occasion in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon hosts the eleven-day SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, beginning June 20 in Saskatoon.
Fishing season hits full stride in summer, and a number of fishing derbies and competitions are being held all over Saskatchewan. Country music fans will be turning tiny Craven, Saskatchewan into the province's fifth-largest city for one weekend when the Craven County Jamboree attracts over 20,000 country music fans, July 10-13.
