June 6-12 is Tourism Awareness Week in Saskatchewan. It is a great time to increase awareness about the wealth of tourism attractions and resources in our province and to consider how important this sector is to our provincial economy. When you vacation in Saskatchewan, you are contributing to a $1.6 billion industry that helps support 54,500 jobs in rural and urban Saskatchewan. One of every ten workers in Saskatchewan is either partly or wholly supported by tourism. It is an industry that engages people in every community, large or small, throughout our province. Tourism encourages community pride and showcases Saskatchewan’s remarkable assets – our rich history, diverse culture, one-of-a-kind hospitality, and so much more – to the rest of the world. Communities throughout Saskatchewan will be celebrating the week with public barbeques, community tours, open houses, contests, and promotions. Tourism Saskatchewan will launch its ninth annual Snap It! The Great Saskatchewan Photo Contest. Prizes will be awarded in seven categories, highlighting Saskatchewan’s natural splendour, unique attractions, and spirited people. For complete contest rules and to submit your entry, visit www.sasktourism.com/snapit. For a complete list of events happening province-wide during Tourism Awareness Week, click here.
