Curling Trivia

Team Canada’s curling team will now be represented by Saskatchewan’s Amber Holland and team. When was the last time a Saskatchewan team won the Canadian Women's Curling Championships?

a) 1995
b) 1996
c) 1997
d) 1998

Answer:

c) 1997. On February 27, 2011, Amber Holland led her Kronau Curling Club rink to a Scotties Tournament of Hearts title for the first time since Sandra Schmirler’s team won the third of their three Canadian championships in 1997.

The new “Team Canada” is comprised of Amber Holland, third Kim Schneider, second Tammy Schneider, and lead Heather Kalenchuk. They will represent Canada at the Capital One Women's World Curling Championships in Esjberg, Denmark from March 18-27, 2011, and they have earned a return trip to the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, AB, as Team Canada.
