Dakota Dunes an Award-Winning Golf Course

As Dakota Dunes Golf Links enters its sixth season of operations, the recognition continues to grow for one of Saskatchewan’s top ranked golf courses. Last fall, SCOREGolf Magazine, Canada’s top golf publication, ranked Dakota Dunes Golf Links at #44 on its list of Canada’s Top 100 Courses.  

No stranger to this kind of recognition, in 2005, Dakota Dunes made waves in the golf industry when Golf Digest named it 'Best New Canadian Course'. "While we are honoured and proud to accept the awards, what has been most satisfying has been the attention that golf in Saskatchewan has received in the past few years," says Dakota Dunes General Manager, McLaren Taylor. "Golfers and the golf industry across Canada are beginning to recognize Saskatchewan as a golf destination. If Dakota Dunes has played a part in that, it is a good thing, and it has been a long time coming."

This summer will be eventful as usual at Dakota Dunes Golf Links as the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Tour returns for the Saskatchewan Open from July 6-12, 2009.  Last year’s event was a great success and the Canadian Tour players are anxious to take another shot at this award-winning layout.

Dakota Dunes Golf Links is located 15 minutes south of Saskatoon on Highway 219, on the lands of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation. Situated right next door to the golf course is the Dakota Dunes Casino, with over 80,000 square feet of gaming, banquet and restaurant space. 100th Anniversary Homecoming for Prince Albert Cooke Municipal Golf Course
From July 3-5, 2009, the Cooke Municipal Golf Course will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a Homecoming weekend. The weekend will begin with a welcome home party and have a distinct historical flavour, with people in period dress, historic displays, intergenerational activities and an historic round of golf. Visitors will recount past golf experiences and share memories of Cooke Municipal. The weekend will conclude with a banquet to honour the families of Cooke’s founders and launch golf excellence into the next 100 years.
