Saskatchewan Provincial Parks Set to Open May 20

Meadow Lake Provincial ParkSaskatchewan’s provincial parks and provincial recreation sites officially open for the season on Thursday, May 20, 2010. The wide variety of vacation experiences found in the province’s parks and recreation sites make them popular destinations.

With more than 6,000 campsites located throughout Saskatchewan it is easy to find your own sanctuary. Saskatchewan Parks has been working to improve your camping experience, including adding electric service to 1,000 campsites. This project is now more than half complete with 600 of these campsites available during this summer season.

It is also good to know, that every Saskatchewan provincial park has sites dedicated for walk-up customers, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. These sites are very popular and can fill up quickly; however, the 14 consecutive night maximum stay program, which will be in effect in select sites this summer, is expected to enable parks to accommodate more people.

A number of popular promotions are continuing this season. The 30-Consecutive-Night Shoulder Season Promotion is in effect during the spring from Monday, May 24 to Thursday, June 24 and during the fall from Monday, September 6 until park closure. This promotion enables you to stay in any provincial park for 30-consectuive-nights for the price of 21. The Spring Park Entry Promotion grants free entry to a Saskatchewan provincial park Monday through Thursday, from Monday, May 24 to Thursday, June 24. The Senior’s Free Park Entry continues, with Saskatchewan Seniors receiving free park entry during the entire park season.
