Microsoft reports that there are over 1.08 billion smartphones in use worldwide. And, according to the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, mobile broadband subscriptions in Canada totalled over 5.6 million as of June 2010. The way travellers find information is changing, and Saskatchewan communities and business are responding. Regina RROC’s mobile site will feature much of the same content as the main website, though the focus has changed slightly to accommodate the mobile format. The mobile homepage will feature news stories and upcoming events, and provide the opportunity to access a condensed version of the extensive information available on the website. Saskatoon Tourism Saskatoon partnered with AllViso Solutions Ltd., a Saskatoon-based company specializing in the development of media and information distribution platforms. Among other content, the site includes flight arrivals and departures, accommodations, and things to do. Tourism Saskatoon’s QR code has been printed in their 2011 Tourism Guide and on the 2011 mini-map.
