Saskatchewan Tourism Week

May 14-21, 2012

Saskatchewan Tourism Week will be celebrated throughout the province from May 14-21. This week is dedicated to promoting Saskatchewan’s wealth of tourism attractions, events, and resources. It encourages a broader understanding of the significant contributions of this sector to our province and acknowledges the work of individuals and businesses that drive the success of tourism.

When you vacation in Saskatchewan, you are contributing to a $1.67-billion industry that helps support 58,000 jobs in rural and urban Saskatchewan. One of every 11 workers in Saskatchewan is either partly or wholly supported by tourism.

Tourism is a significant revenue source for hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, museums, art galleries, parks, outfitters, nightclubs, casinos, sporting events, shopping malls, festivals, craft shops, golf courses, and many other businesses. There are approximately 4,000 attractions, events, and tourism-related businesses in the province.

It is an industry that engages people in every community, large or small, throughout our province. Tourism encourages community pride and development and showcases Saskatchewan’s remarkable assets – our rich history, diverse culture, one-of-a-kind hospitality, and so much more – to the rest of Canada and to the world.

Communities throughout Saskatchewan will be celebrating the week with public barbecues, community tours, open houses, flag-raisings, contests, and promotions. For a complete list of events happening province-wide during Saskatchewan Tourism Week, click here.
