Celebrate Culture in Saskatchewan During Culture Days

September 26 - October 2, 2011

September 30 - October 2, 2011, marks the second annual pan-Canadian Culture Days. This year Saskatchewan is also adding the week of September 26–29 to Culture Days to allow for schools and businesses to take part.

Last year in Saskatchewan, 26 communities held over 130 separate activities during Culture Days. The public was able to experience behind-the-scenes tours of museums and pottery demonstrations, they contributed to mural paintings, and took part in mask making. Theatres opened their doors to show dress rehearsals of their productions, giving people a look behind the curtain, and artists opened their studios to visitors as well.

This year Culture Days plans to build on those successes and call on all communities and individuals to take part in the celebrations by either hosting an event or simply attending and supporting those that do.

Communities are asked to consider how they can celebrate culture, using the resources they already possess. Holding events during Culture Days can enhance an event, help build new partnerships, and develop new audiences.

2011 is the year to showcase Saskatchewan's Culture to the rest of Canada! Resister your activity if it will take place during the week of September 26-29. For more information contact Peter Brass at 306-780-9289 or pbrass@saskculture.sk.ca.
