Corner Gas Souvenir Store Allows Visitors a Closer Look at the Original Set

The television sitcom Corner Gas first aired in 2004, and it was a hit with most Saskatchewanians from the beginning, but in the end it appealed to so many more viewers than just those from the province it highlighted. Many people have traveled from far and wide to see the fictional town of Dog River firsthand, but up until this year their view of the gas station set was very limited.

The buildings that acted as the gas station and The Ruby have been renovated and opened to the public as, well, a gas station...minus the gas.

There is a full souvenir store inside the gas station and visitors can tour the inside of The Ruby - even sit at the counter or in one of the booths - but it is not a functioning café. There is an RCMP car sitting outside to remind us of Davis and Karen, and the grain elevator across the road still proudly displays the name of the town that was home to Brent, Lacey, Wanda, Hank and the rest of the beloved Corner Gas cast.

The interior of the gas station feels very much like being in the show. The counter with the cash register that Brent stood behind in so many scenes is there, the pumps are right outside the front door, and you can buy just about anything with a Corner Gas logo on it, as well as regular convenience store items. The store owners even have t-shirts that say "Jackass" on them for all the Oscar fans out there. They also sell many items on their website.

Fans of the show will not be disappointed with a visit out to the Corner Gas Souvenir Store, it is well worth the visit.
