Summer Road Trip 2011
From June 20-23, our travel correspondant Becky set out on her Summer Road Trip to beautiful northern Saskatchewan.
Her first stop was Candle Lake Golf Resort. This full-service resort features spectacular views of Candle Lake, an exceptional golf course, an inland marina, and all sorts of accommodations options. The rainy weather prevented her from having a golf lesson, but she met up with the Saskatchewanderer while she was there, and they found ways to pass the time indoors.
Her second stop was Flora Bora Forest Lodging, which is located between Emma and Christopher Lakes. What makes this little getaway so unique is the yurts that visitors stay in. What’s a yurt, you ask? They are circular wooden dwellings that were traditionally covered with felted wool and skins when they were the primary shelters for nomadic herdsman of central Asia for centuries. The yurts available at Flora Bora are much more modern. Check out video from Flora Bora.
Lastly, Becky spent some time roaming around Waskesiu in Prince Albert National Park. There is a lot to see and do in the adorable resort village of Waskesiu Lake, plus she was able to stop in at Land of the Loon Resort on her way back to Prince Albert.
It was a busy few days, and she captured her adventures through photos and videos and posted them online each day to our Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, and YouTube pages.
